Eco- Warrior club of Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur in collaboration with NSS Unit of the college celebrated World Environment Day on the theme “Land Restoration Combating Desertification and Drought Resilience” on 05-06-2024 in the college campus. The students also participated in the event by contributing water feeders for the birds conveying the message of conserving diversity. The event was conducted under the guidance of principal incharge Asstt Prof Bindu Salaria and supervision of Asstt Prof Mohan Singh, convener of eco- warrior club and Asstt Prof Narinder Singh, NSS PO.

NSS Winter Camp 2024 (26-02-2024 to 05-03-2024)
NSS winter camp concluded at BDC Udhampur
NSS Unit of Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur organized seven days NSS winter camp from 26th
February to 5th March 2024 inside and outside the college premises, in order to perform outdoor activities
and contributing their best in the society. The camp was organized under the patronage of Incharge
Principal of the college Prof Bindu Salaria. On 26-02-2024, N.S.S. volunteers conducted a cleanliness
drive, inside the college campus area. On 27-02-2024, N.S.S. volunteers organized a slogan writing
competition on the topic “Voters Awareness”. On 28-02-2024, volunteers conducted an awareness rally in
the adopted village area of Nagrota (Udhampur) on voter’s awareness. On 29-02-2024, Volunteers
participated with great enthusiasm and conducted a cleanliness drive in the local water bodies of adopted
village Nagrota. On 01-03-2024, volunteers also showcased their spiritual side by actively participating in
the yoga activities held in the premises of the college. The yoga session was performed under the
guidance and instructions of Phy. Director,Mr. Pawan Sharma. Due to bad weather conditions, winter
camp was extended two days further. On 04-03-2024, an interactive session held among the volunteers
in which they had a healthy interactive session on “Drug Abuse”. On 05-03-2024, volunteers conducted a
visit to Jagriti Oldage home and Orphanage, where they distributed the needed essentials to the senior
citizens and the children. Volunteers had raised a fund through donation box in order to collect the
amount used for the visit. The seven days were filled with numerous vibrant activities to create a sense of
responsibility among the students. The camp was organized under the guidance of Principal Incharge and
supervision of NSS Programme Officer Prof Narinder Singh.

NSS Unit of Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur organised Intra- College Essay Competition in
collaboration with Eco Club on the eve of *National Pollution Control Day* on *02-12-2023* in the college
premises. The event was organised under the esteemed guidance of Dr. SK Magotra, principal of the
college and supervised by NSS Programme Officer, Prof Narendar Singh and Prof Pinaki Bakshi from
Dept of English. The essay writing was evaluated by Prof Kapil Sharma and Prof Mohan Singh.
Volunteers participated in the activity with great zeal and dedication. Through the activity, volunteers
showcased their writing skills and their notions on the topic ** Sustainable Development for Healthy and
Clean Planet**. First prize was grabbed by Sujaan Salaria, second by Danish Singh and third by Shahid
Salaria from 1st semester. The winners and participants were rewarded with token of appreciation. The
activity was concluded with the words of appreciation to NSS Volunteers by the principal and whole NSS
team together.
Two NSS Volunteers of the college attended Two Days (1 to 2 Dec, 2023) Workshop at the University of
Jammu on “Peer support for students with disabilities “ organised by NSS Office, University of Jammu.

N.S.S. unit of BDC celebrated World Health Day
Apr 7, 2023: NSS unit of Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur organized a guest lecture on ‘World Health
Day’ and the theme for this year's is "Health for All". The event was organized under the able guidance of
Dr. S.K Magotra, principal of the college. The programme commenced with the lightening of the lamp by
Dr. Chander Kanta, District Immunization Officer accompanied with principal and senior staff. The
programme began with formal welcome address by Dr. S.K Magotra, informing the students about the
importance of health and wellbeing. Dr. Chander Kanta, the resource person of the event also discussed
the mental as well as physical health issues of people facing in today’s time. She further focused on
healthy diet and healthy living. One of the students of the college Rikhil Goswami also presented his
awareness speech on health. The proceedings of the event anchored by Prof Pinaki Bakshi. The event
concluded with the vote of thanks by NSS programme officer Prof Narender Singh.
NSS Unit of Bhaskar Degree College, Udhampur participated in Three-Day Training Programme
w.e.f. 23rd March, 2023 - 25th March, 2023 for Early Detection of Drug Abuse and Post-
Detection Management at district level which was organised by the Department of Social
Welfare at the DC Office Complex. Additional District Development Commissioner, Ghan
Shyam Singh was the chief guest who inaugurated the training programme in the presence of
District Social Welfare Officer, Kanika Gupta. Around 200 students from different Colleges and
Educational Institutions participated in the training.
During the Training experts, emphasized that drug abuse is a challenge facing the country and
urged all stakeholders to join in raising awareness about its harmful effects and measures to
prevent it. They also provided detailed information on how to recognize drug addiction,
treatment and testing processes. Our 22 NSS volunteers along with NSS Programme Officer
Prof. Narinder Singh became a part of three days training programme.
NSS volunteers of our college participated in an event organized by NSS Coordinator, University of
Jammu in order to celebrate National Youth Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Indian thinker,
philosopher and social leader Swami Vivekananda. The events organized by the NSS, University of
Jammu were:- A motivational lecture and a movie on the life of Swami Vivekananda. 12 Jan 2023
Indian Constitution nurtures the aspirations of its citizens, and is a true living Constitution in as much as it gives the widest possible amplitude for the realization of both individual liberties and desires and at the same time enforces the need for collective growth and development.
The Quiz Competition was organised in the Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur by the NSS Unit of the college to celebrate the Constitution Day to create awareness amongst the students about the Constitution and its special features, particularly Fundamental Duties, as enshrined in the Constitution. The competition commenced with the reading of the preamble of Indian Constitution. Total five teams i.e. A,B,C,D and E participated in the quiz competition from B.A/B.Com/B.Sc. semester 1st, 3rd and 5th. Quiz competition consisted of five rounds and in each round total 25 questions were asked to the all five teams. Team B from Science Stream stood first position and Team C from Arts stream was runner up. At last prizes were given to the winner team and certificate also given to all the participants
Bhaskar Degree College, Udhampur today celebrated National Service Scheme (NSS) Foundation Day with enthusiasm and fervor. The event commenced with the lighting of lamps by DDC Member Panchari Mongri, Jasvir Singh, principal of college Dr. S.K. Magotra, Ashok Khajuria, MD, Bhartiya Group of Institutions, Vice Principal Prof. Bindu Salaria, Prof. Vijeta Kumari, Prof. Narinder Singh, Prof. Savita Sambyal and Prof. Hema Dutt. On the occasion a formal welcome address was given by the principal of the college, Dr. S.K Magotra and highlighted the importance of selfless service and appealed to the volunteers for engaging themselves in constructive social work and to enrich their personality. Prof. Narinder Singh PO NSS appraised the audience about the history of NSS and appealed to the volunteers to relate their learning and experiences towards finding solutions to the problems. Jasvir Singh, DDC member, Panchari Udhampur was the chief guest on the occasion. He addressed the audience and appreciated the performances presented by the college students and encouraged the role of volunteers to continue the good work for the betterment of the college and society in general. All faculty members and students were present to make the occasion graceful. The event was conducted under the supervision of NSS PO Prof. Narinder Singh and hosted by Prof. Hema Dutt. The occasion was filled with vibrant performances of college students. The cultural programs included songs, Dogri Folk dance and Punjabi Folk dance performances. The event was concluded with the vote of thanks speech by Prof Narinder Singh.
Five days Yoga Camp was organised in the Bhaskar Degree College, Udhampur from 13TH to 17TH
September at college playground from 9:00 Am to 10:00 AM daily. NSS Unit of the college took the initiative to
organize Yoga Camp for all the students in addition to other sports activities. This camp was made mandatory
for all the students. The students participated with zeal and enthusiasm and made the 5 day yoga camp
successful in presence of Principal of the college, Dr. S. K. Magotra, PO NSS Unit Narinder Singh, Sports
Officer Mr. Pawan Kumar and all the faculty members of the college. Yoga was practiced by the students under
the guidance of sports officer Pawan Kumar. He taught the significance and importance of yoga in daily life
while instructing the students regarding the various yoga asanas. The last day of the yoga camp was
concluded with the yoga asanas performed by students in presence of all the staff members. The college
Principal, Dr S. K. Magotra extended his warm greetings on this day and stated that yoga is a part of our
ancient Indian heritage and yoga is a holistic approach to health and well-being, balancing our mind, body and
soul. The concluding speech was delivered by PO Narinder Singh and Mr. Pawan Kumar, sports officer while
emphasizing on the yoga practice and making it an essential part of life.
NSS Unit of Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur organized a Rally to celebrate world bicycle day (3rd June
2022) as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. To commemorate the day, NSS volunteers made posters,
placards and slogans to aware the society about the ill effects of pollutions. The event was conducted under
the guidance and support of Principal of the college Dr. S.K. Magotra. The volunteers participated with full zeal
and did their best to spread the awareness among the masses about the ill-effects of pollutions through their
participation in rally along with posters, placards, and slogans. The main motive of the activity was too aware
the general masses to use bicycles in place of cars and motorcycles making their lives more better and
healthier. The rally was successfully completed under the supervision of NSS Programme Officer of the college
Lect. Narinder Singh.
NSS Unit of Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur organized an activity to raise awareness on
harmful and deadly effects of tobacco use and second-hand smoke exposure and to discourage
the use of tobacco in any form on “World no tobacco day”. To commemorate the day, a poster-
making activity was organized on “Say No to Tobacco”. The event was conducted under the
guidance and support of principal of the college Dr. S.K. Magotra. The volunteers participated
with full zeal and did their best to spread the awareness among the masses about the ill-effects of
consuming tobacco through their posters. The main motive of the activity was to aware the
general masses about the degrading condition of our youth due to the consumption of tobacco
and to arise the spirit of saving and making their lives more better and healthier. The poster
making activity was successfully completed under the supervision of NSS Programme Officer of
the college Asstt. Prof. Narinder Singh.
Eco-club in collaboration with NSS unit of Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur organized
plantation drive on 29-03-2022 in the college campus. The drive was commenced with the
plantation of Arjun tree by principal of the college Dr. S.K. Magotra, Mr. Mahesh Abrol, Range
Officer Udhampur, Mr. Rajnish Sharma, block officer, Naresh Sharma, block officer, Rajeev
Gupta, members of eco-club, Prof. Bindu Salaria and other staff members. N.S.S. volunteers of
the college also participated in this plantation drive by planting the plants. Around 30 plants were
planted inside and outside the college campus. The drive was carried on in order to make the
campus more eco-friendly and to aware the students about the importance of clean and green
environment. The drive was conducted under the esteem guidance of principal of the college and
was supervised by eco- club convener Prof. Mohan Singh and N.S.S. programme officer Prof.
Pinaki Bakshi.

NSS Unit in collaboration with the Department of Political Science of the college organised an Intra College Quiz Competition on 26-11-2021 in the college premises in order to celebrate "Constitution Day".
As a part of ‘Clean India Campaign, Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’ being run by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, a special cleanliness drive was organized on 20th and 21st of October, 2021 by NSS Unit of the college under the supervision of principal of the college Dr.S.K. Magotra. On 20-10-2021, volunteers went around the college to collect the single use plastics and dumped the same properly in the dustbins. On 21-10-2021, volunteers conducted a door to door awareness campaign in the adopted village Nagrota on cleanliness and solid waste management. The volunteers visited the local market and local schools from where they picked up the garbage and educated the local community about the importance of keeping their surroundings clean. Cleanliness drives are a regular feature in the institution to keep the college campus uncontaminated and green and to develop a sense of fundamental duty among the students."

''Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur in collaboration with Bhartiya College of Education Udhampur celebrated India’s 75th Independence Day very enthusiastically in all its solemnity and grandeur on 15th August 2021. All the staff members of both the colleges and students were present to salute the mother land and tri colour of the nation.The flag was unfurled by the Chief Guest Managing Director of the college, Mr. Ashok Khajuria. Besides him, other dignitaries were also present in the ceremony. The programme was commenced with the inaugural speech of Mr. Ashok Khajuria, in which he addressed the gathering and also advised the students to re-discover of our history especially freedom fighters and also advise them to respect our constitution."
'' NSS Unit of Bhaskar Degree College organized Two-Days Program on World Health Day from 06-04-021 to 07-04-021 in the adopted ward area of Nagrota. On 06-04-021, volunteers conducted a survey on Covid Vaccination and also presented a consolidated report of that. On 07-04-2021, volunteers organized a Nukkad Natak in the same adopted area and through their play they tried to spread awareness among the masses to take their health seriously and should go for vaccination if they have not gone yet. Volunteers also encouraged the people to add workout and yoga in their daily routine to get better immunity and health."

Ms. Anjali Sharma also participated in declamation competition in which she presented her views on Human Rights.''
NSS Unit of Bhaskar Degree College organized a poster making activity on 13th February 2021 to commemorate the Black Day, a small tribute to Pulwama attack martyrs, who had lost their lives on 14th Feb, 2019.The theme of the activity was "Salute to Martyrs".The activity was done under the esteemed guidance of Principal of the College Dr. S.K Magotra and supervision of NSS Programme Officer Prof. Pinaki Bakshi.
NSS Volunteer of Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur. Shilpa Sharma Semester V participated in Republic Day Parade 2021 organized by Government of India, Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and Directorate of NSS, New Delhi(1st-31st Jan,2021). The venue of the camp was the International Youth Hostel. With her participation, one more feather got added in our college’s cap. It is pertinent to mention that she was the only female NSS Volunteer from Jammu province to participate in the R.D Parade 2021.
NSS Unit of Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur organized National Level E-Quiz Competition on “International Day Against Drug Abuse And Illicit Trafficking ” in collaboration with Dept. of Environmental Sciences and also an Intra-College Poster Making and Slogan writing Competition in collaboration with Regional Transport Office under the Stewardship of ARTO, Rachna Sharma, Udhampur from 25-06-2020 to 26-06-2020. The events were conducted under the supreme guidance and supervision of the Principal of the college, Dr. SK Magotra. The theme of the poster making and slogan writing competitions was “Drugs Usage and Driving- A Curse”. In the national e-quiz competition, more than 500 participants participated across the country, including government as well as private institutions and universities.
"NSS Unit of the Bhaskar Degree College organized Four Days Inter-College online Yoga competition on the occasion of 6th International Yoga Day, 2020. The event was conducted under the supreme guidance of worthy principal of the college Dr. S.K. Magotra. The total four competitions were organized out of which two were Inter- College i.e. Essay writing competition and picture collage of different yoga asanas and another two were Intra- College competitions i.e. poster making and Video of yoga asanas. On 18-06-2020, an Intra-College poster making competition was organized on the theme “Yoga is Life” and “Yoga with family” as per the guidelines of Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, in which NSS Volunteers participated pretty enthusiastically by presenting the benefits of yoga in creative and beautiful form. Also as per the guidelines of Ministry of Ayush, Govt of India, NSS Volunteers of the college participated in online quiz competitions organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs .After that on 19-06-2020, another Intra-College online competition of creative yoga videos was organized, in which around twenty NSS Volunteers participated.
On 20-06-2020, an Intra –College essay writing competition on “Yoga- A strong force to fight against Covid-19”was organized, in which ample of participants from different colleges participated including MIER College of Education Jammu, KC College of Education, Jammu, GCW Udhampur and Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur. And on the final concluding day i.e. on 21-06-2020, a yoga collage asanas challenge was organised online, in which participants across the country participated including Chennai, Chandigarh, U.P., MAM PG college, Jammu, GDC Kathua, GDC RS Pura, Jammu and GCW Udhampur. The International day of Yoga aims to rise awareness around the world , regarding myriad of benefits of practicing art of yoga.
While addressing on this yoga day our worthy PM Narendra Modi also said, “ Yoga is an invaluable gift from our ancient tradition. Yoga embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action , a holistic approach, that is valuable for our health and well being. Yoga is not just about exercise, it is a way to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature.”

"NSS Unit of the Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur organized Intra-College Poster Making competition on 14-06-2020, in order to celebrate World Blood Donor Day. The event was organized under the guidance and support of principal of the college Dr. S.K. Magotra. The NSS Volunteers of the college participated with great zeal and tried to promote the message of saving others' lives through their poster making talent.
Every year, on this day the world celebrates World Blood Donor Day (WBDD), in order to spread awareness about donating the blood and saving the lives. The event serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood. The event was conducted under the supervision of NSS Programme Officer of the college Lect. Pinaki Bakshi."

Two NSS Volunteers of the college Suhasani and Shilpa Sharma of VI and IV Semester stitched face protection cloth masks in order to distribute them among the needy and nearby and also to spread awareness among the masses about the deadly contact of Coronavirus disease. The volunteers felt their duty to contribute their best even during this global pandemic for the society as much as they can."
"NSS Volunteers of the college celebrated "World Environment Day" 2020 with great zeal by planting at their homes, so as to convey the message to save and love the planet . The volunteers also initiated the slogan for this summer "Beat the heat, plant more trees."

On 14-09-2019, an activity cum awareness lecture was organised in one of the adopted village’s Govt middle school of Nagrota, Udhampur. The motive of the awareness lecture to the students was to make them understand that ‘Healthy mind resides in a healthy body’.

Under the initiative of “Swachhta Pakwada” commenced by the Ministry of Youth and Affairs, Govt of India, on 02-09-2019, a survey to one of the local water body of the adopted village Nagrota of Dhar Road Udhampur was conducted by the NSS Volunteers of the college, in which the volunteers conducted an awareness lecture on conservation and proper utilization of water to the local masses present over there. The main motive behind this visit was to make general masses aware of the fact that scarcity of water can lead to disastrous effects in future. "
"A ‘Ten-Days NSS Summer Camp’ was organized by the NSS Unit of the Bhaskar Degree College from 28-06-2019 to 08-07-2019, in which NSS Volunteers participated with great enthusiasm, by conducting ample of activities like door-to-door campaign, awaring local masses about solid and plastic waste management, how to decompose organic waste properly by composite pit making and also by wall painting spreading message of sanitation, cleanliness and proper hygiene."

NSS Unit of the College organised Two days Yoga Camp w.e.f. 20th June, 2019 to 21st June, 2019 held at Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur in collaboration with Bhartiya Sanasthan Udhampur
Two Days NSS Visit was conducted by the NSS Volunteers of the College on 29th and 30th April,2019 at Jagriti Oldage Home / Bal Ashram under the direction and supervision of Principal and NSS Program Officer of the college, in which NSS volunteers conducted a cleanliness drive and also distributed study essentials among them.The main motive of the visit was to make students socially aware, so that they could serve their best in the society."
NSS Unit of the college organised guest lecturer on "World Cancer Day" by Dr. Vaneet Gupta from Govt. District Hospital Udhampur.
NSS Day Celebrated at orphanage and Oldage Home Udhampur
Bhaskar Degree College was established in the year 2010. It is being run under the aegis of Bhaskar Educational trust devoted to the promotion of general, professional and technical education. The college is recognized by the Govt. of J&K and is affiliated to the University of Jammu. It is housed in a multi storeyed building comprising of 30 spacious class-rooms, audio-visual rooms, seminar hall, administrative block, computer labs, multipurpose hall, examination hall and well stocked library.
