Red Ribbon Club (RRC)

Introduction:- The Red Ribbon Project was started in 1991 by the Visual AIDS Artists Caucus in New York as a visual symbol of compassion for people living with AIDS and their caregivers. Red Ribbon Clubs (RRCs) are a voluntary program in higher education institutions that aim to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, promote safe sexual behaviors, drug abuse and encourage voluntary blood donation.
Goals: The club's goals include: - Increasing access to healthcare services for youth. - Connecting youth with governmental, non-governmental and CBO agencies. - Encouraging young people to donate blood regularly.
Activities: Red Ribbon Clubs organize awareness programs, blood donation camps, and other events to promote healthy behaviors and support people living with HIV/AIDS.
Symbol: The club's symbol is the red ribbon
Outcomes: RRCs aim to reduce stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS. They also aim to build the skills of young people as peer educators and change agents.
IN COLLEGE: It is also devised in the college with the motto, ‘STOP HIV, END AIDS’ (UNITE FOR AWARENESS, ACT FOR CHANGE)
OBJECTIVE: The main objective behind the formulation of this club is to create an awareness among the students by giving them information and life skills to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS and also inculcate in them the spirit of helping and supporting people living with HIV/AIDS.
ACTIVITIES: The Club organizes awareness camps on AIDS/Blood Donation at regular intervals along with other activities such as, Awareness lectures, Quiz competitions, Slogan writing, Blood Donation etc.
